E-mail service

Use of Email Service
E-mail can be read using an e-mail program such as Outlook, Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird.
You can use either WEBMAIL, IMAP or POP3 protocols to read messages using your email client.
The IMAP protocol is recommended if the same mailbox is read from multiple devices, such as a computer and a mobile phone.
This will keep copies of the messages on the server and allow you to read the same message from different devices.
Therefore, using the IMAP protocol requires more disk space on the server.
All email services also include a webmail application that lets you read and send emails through a web browser without installing any software.

Spam filtering
All email services in your domain include free email server blacklisting. Filtering is based on a list of servers known to send spam, which filters email traffic from spam even before it reaches the inbox.
It is possible to enable message content filtering by mailbox from the service management page (Cpanel management).

When using POP3, the mail client retrieves messages from the server's Inbox to the computer where the mail is read. This will leave the inbox in your mailbox empty on mail.nida.fi after the mail has been retrieved. Mail clients often have an alternative setting that leaves a copy of all retrieved mail on the mail server.
POP3 does not retrieve messages from other than the Inbox folder. The advantage of POP3 is that the mailbox usually never becomes full when downloading messages from the server to your computer. The disadvantage is that the message can only be read from the machine on which the emails were downloaded.
With IMAP, the mail client handles mail directly from the server, allowing you to delete, save, one message at a time, or store all messages on the server. This is especially useful when the same mailbox is accessed from multiple computers, such as work and home. For this reason, it is recommended to use the IMAP protocol.
