Domain Terms and Conditions
1. Target group of the terms
These terms supplement Nida Verkkopalvelu’s general terms for services in which the customer has ordered domain registration, transfer, ownership change, and/or maintenance from Nida Verkkopalvelu.
2. Definition of a domain
A domain refers to an internet domain name, e.g., yritys.fi or yritys.com, which is reserved and/or offered to the customer for use by the appropriate registrar through Nida Verkkopalvelu based on the customer's order.
3. Customer responsibility for registration orders
The customer is responsible for the domain-related orders given to Nida Verkkopalvelu, such as registration, renewal, and transfer orders, as well as any claims arising from these orders.
The customer assures that they meet the requirements for registration and renewal of the ordered domain, such as eligibility of the registrar and the correctness of the domain name. Orders that contradict these assurances, violate good practice, or are illegal are prohibited.
The customer also authorizes Nida Verkkopalvelu to accept on their behalf the agreements necessary for domain registration.
4. Registration and/or maintenance service
When ordering a new domain from Nida Verkkopalvelu in connection with a web hosting service or other service, an existing domain transfer, an existing domain ownership change, or another similar domain product, the customer is considered to have ordered from Nida Verkkopalvelu a domain registration/transfer service and a renewal service for the duration that the customer has any active service with Nida Verkkopalvelu, such as web hosting or domain storage.
As part of the renewal service, Nida Verkkopalvelu will make its best effort to keep the customer’s domain registered if the customer has properly fulfilled their obligations to Nida Verkkopalvelu, for example by keeping contact information up-to-date and paying invoices sent by Nida Verkkopalvelu by the due date.
5. Pricing
The current registration price list is available on Nida Verkkopalvelu’s website at www.mmd.net. Nida Verkkopalvelu reserves the right to make changes to the registration price list, for example, if the costs charged by registrars to Nida Verkkopalvelu change.
If the cost of a domain extension in the price list increases by more than 20% within a year, Nida Verkkopalvelu commits to notifying the customer separately via email.
If the customer's domain has expired and the customer wishes to attempt to recover it, Nida Verkkopalvelu has the right to charge the customer a case-specific fee for this procedure.
6. Renewal of usage rights
Unless the customer has explicitly informed Nida Verkkopalvelu in writing that they do not wish to continue using the reserved domain, Nida Verkkopalvelu has the right to automatically renew the domain on the customer's behalf and charge the applicable renewal fee according to the current price list.
The customer must submit the written notice at least 35 days before the registration expires to ensure Nida Verkkopalvelu can take it into account in time.
If the customer has terminated services associated with the domain from Nida Verkkopalvelu, Nida Verkkopalvelu considers this termination to also apply to the domain renewal service.
If the customer wishes to renew the domain themselves, and this is possible for the domain in question, the customer must notify Nida Verkkopalvelu in writing at least 35 days before the registration expires. With this notice, Nida Verkkopalvelu will remove the domain from its automatic renewal and monitoring system and is no longer responsible for the domain's functionality or continued validity.
If, for reasons not caused by Nida Verkkopalvelu, e.g., due to unpaid invoices or changes in the registrar's rules, the customer loses the right to the domain or its renewal, Nida Verkkopalvelu is not liable for damages.
7. General extensions
This appendix applies to supplement the specific terms for domain registration, renewal, and transfer.
The general extensions apply to the following TLDs:
Domains .biz, registry: Neulevel.
Domains .com, registry: Verisign Inc.
Domains .info, registry: Afilias Limited.
Domains .name, registry: Global Name Registry.
Domains .net, registry: Verisign.
Domains .org, registry: Public Interon Registry.
Domains .mobi, registry: mtld.mobi.
Domains .pro, registry: Registrypro.
Domains .tel, registry: Telnic.
Domains .fm, registry: Dot.Fm.
They must comply with ICANN specifications:
The customer agrees not to contact the registry regarding domain registration, cancellation, deletion, or transfer but to contact Nida Verkkopalvelu directly.
The customer agrees not to publish or distribute registry postal or email addresses from the Whois database. The customer agrees to correct and update domain information throughout the registration period. The customer consents to the registry and/or any supervisory authority or their units using, copying, distributing, publishing, modifying, and otherwise processing the customer’s personal data provided in the Whois database. Therefore, the customer cannot oppose its publication in the Whois database, except when requesting termination of these contractual terms. The customer is responsible for claims and costs arising from their actions or negligence against Nida Verkkopalvelu, the registry, supervisory authorities, or their officers.
In case of a dispute regarding the implementation or interpretation of this agreement, the parties agree that all claims will be preceded by an official notice via registered mail with proof of receipt.
Ten (10) days after sending the registered notice, the parties may initiate the necessary procedures, granting jurisdiction specifically to the Espoo District Court and the domain holder’s local district court.
Nida Verkkopalvelu and the registry may hold the domain pending resolution of a dispute.
The customer agrees to comply with ICANN’s UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) at: http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm
The customer consents that the domain may be frozen, canceled, or transferred under ICANN rules.
The registry has accepted rules according to ICANN for correcting mistakes made by the registry or Nida Verkkopalvelu or for resolving domain disputes.
For .PRO domains, the customer agrees to read and comply with these terms:

For .TEL domains, English and Welsh law applies in disputes related to the domain or between the customer and the TELNIC registry. Courts in England and Wales have jurisdiction.
.TEL domains cannot be combined with shared hosting or separate servers. Telnic automatically configures DNS, which cannot be changed during the order process.
Only a properly approved Telnic provider can guarantee a .tel domain combined with web hosting. The customer must contact Nida Verkkopalvelu to change the DNS toward their service provider.
8. Country Code extensions
